Wonderful relaxing experience
We stayed at The Cambridge belfry, my daughter and myself. As a birthday present for my daughter, the room was a standard double room, but definitely needs Aircon in the bedroom dinner was good and we had some spa treatments, I had my back and shoulders on Sunday my daughter had a facial. Then on Monday we both had shoulders, neck and scalp and foot massage by Jodie an absolutely wonderful experience thank you so much ⭐
Spa break
I visited in June for a 3 day spa break for my 70th birthday with a friend. It was easy to get to off the A14 and parking was just outside. The room would have benifitted from air conditioning as we were in the middle of a heatwave. However housekeeping provided us with a fan which helped. It was also sad to learn we had a fridge but it was not working. The food was excellent both at the breakfast buffet and evening meals. We both had treatments in the spa and I would like to mention Victoria who gave me the best neck and back massage I have ever had. The staff were very obliging, friendly and helpful, we enjoyed our stay and l would recommend.
Highly recommended - good value for money
A perfect location for visiting Cambridge and surrounding area. Cambourne is a new town, built some 25 years ago, with some nice houses but an empty alien air! The hotel is large and imposing with great sports and health club facilities, grounds around a lake. We were 2 aging couples meeting for an annual reunion. I requested ground floor, convenient rooms (we are not so mobile these days) and we got our wish, being in a quiet corridor fairly close to Reception. There was nothing we could fault - the staff were all lovely, the rooms comfortable and well equipped and breakfast was excellent. We did not dine in, choosing to have a Carvery Sunday lunch in Hartford Mill, Huntingdon and an evening meal at the local pub, the Mountfield Arms - which was a traditional, welcoming pub serving good pub grub. Madingley Road Park and Ride is only 10+ minutes drive away and the bus only takes 6-10 minutes into the centre of Cambridge. In earlier reviews some people mentioned a need to refurbish rooms etc but this was not our impression, which was a 4 star experience. Thank you all
Great overnight spa package
Lovely venue, great setting. My friends and I had an overnight spa packages and really enjoyed the spa, the treatment and the food. Staff were lovely and massage ‘back to business’ by Victoria was superb! We will be back again
Spa was great
The spa was lovely, very relaxing, clean , great setting and all staff were very friendly and helpful . My friend and I both had a deep tissue back shoulder, neck massage and a facial that was done my Vic and Lucy and all I can say is wow it was absolutely fantastic and even several hours later I’m still feeling so relaxed. My friend upgraded and treat us to an afternoon tea which was lovely and a great selection . Though didn’t find the young girl that served us so welcoming and friendly. Seemed to have a bit of an attitude. We got told we could sit outside as it was a nice day . To be told by her that if we did she wouldn’t be able to provide the full service. So we ended up sitting inside. When we asked about a cup of coffee we got told it would take her longer as she had to go right over there as they were having some refurbishment work done . Seemed like we were putting her out and by the time we did get our coffee we were almost finished our afternoon tea
A five star experience in a four star hotel
The Cambridge Belfry was beautifully situated with excellent facilities; breakfast was generous and the one dinner we had was delicious. Easy access to all the places we wanted to go to meet up with friends. We did not use the spa as my husband had forgotten his swimming bag (!) but also we didn't really have time with all the meet-ups we had planned. Our room was very hot but there was a fan available. Also our room keys (along with those of other guests) stopped working on the second day but this was very quickly remedied. We spent a lovely leisurely morning reading by the lake, and really our every wish was granted. Just one small thing: please don't tuck the duvets in under the beds, no European hotel would ever do that, it destroys the whole point of duvets! We would definitely come again, though, even with the tucked-in duvets.
Thank you one and all
From the moment we arrived the staff could not have been more helpful. Our room was well kept and prepared by Olivia, thank you. (Shame no air con in this heat but did have a fan) Our meals were excellent-compliments to chef and the waiters and waitresses under Sam’s leadership were brilliant and helped to make our stay one to remember. Thank you one and all.
Spa Day
Booked the entire day at the spa, using facilities such as the pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. Overall 5 stars as very relaxing and thoroughly enjoyed. At the end of the day, I booked a Fit For Business treatment with Brook. Very professional and a very relaxing back scrub, back exfoliate, back massage and leg massage. Used the perfect pressure when asked how I wanted the massage. Fantastic experience! Highly recommended
Excellent Experiance
The Hotel and Room was excellent and the room I chose the Junior Suite had a free minibar which was fabulous. The Staff were great and breakfast excellent. I did not have time to use the spa but looked excellent. I will stay here again
Pleasant spa day
Grace my therapist was delightful. The spa itself is a little small for the volume of guests on a weekend - smal pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna. Afternoon tea was good.
Very relaxing stay
Sat in garden area overlooking kake to enjoy my superfood salad. Really comfortable beds. Nice quiet room. Best nights sleep in a hotel for ages! Thank you 😊
Perfect stay after wedding celebration
Checked in to penthouse suite just after midnight (lift does not go to 3rd floor), having been to a family wedding nearby. Comfortable king size bed (and sofa bed in separate room), perfect for 4 adults or family with children. Spacious bathroom and separate toilet, although liquid soap hadn’t been refilled in shower. Complimentary mini bar. The penthouse suites are the only rooms with air conditioning apparently! Delicious breakfast the next day, and late 11am checkout. Didn’t have time to use the spa, sadly.
Overall a good spa day experience
Enjoyed a solo spa day package. I had a lovely personalised facial and shoulder, back and neck message by Jodie- divine experience. The relaxation room was a nice added bonus for some peaceful rest-bite from the wider pool and sauna area. The only downside is that the pool, sauna and steam room areas are extremely crowded, particularly on a weekend. There were limited loungers on poolside. Therefore couldn’t make much use of this part of the facility. As well as this the changing facilities could’ve been a little cleaner and tidier. The changing area is a little small and dated. However, overall I had a very pleasant experience, the best part of the spa experience were the individual treatment offerings.
What an incredible break!!
We have just come home from the most incredible spa break we have ever experienced! First of all.. the moment we walked in stressed & drained from our work and home lives we felt welcomed and at ease. The hotel is beautiful, so clean, so well decorated and laid out.. we loved the lounge areas, the areas which are divided off and the garden area with the lake. We got to our penthouse suite and we were amazed at the luxury from the furnishings to the wallpaper, the free drinks in the mini bar, the little touches added and the beds…wow… I don’t think I’ve ever slept so comfortably! Our spa experiences were divine! I feel so good! We loved the spa area, the pool was the perfect temperature and again everything was so clean and tidy! The teas in the relaxation room were an added bonus! We sat down for our meals and were so impressed with the team in the restaurant, friendly, smiling, making sure everything was perfect, their attention to detail was spot on and the food was incredible! The breakfasts were gorgeous, the breakfast staff were so lovely and even though we stumbled down to breakfast at nearly end of service we were made to feel welcome and tended to like the first customers of the day! We had lunch in the garden watching the fish jumping in the lake and spent our evenings in the bar where the atmosphere was perfect! We have been all over East Anglia but never have we been to such a luxurious hotel and spa, where we have been treated so well, enjoyed such high quality dishes, experienced such incredible service and come away with not a single complaint, feeling completely refreshed and relaxed and ready to take on the world again.. We will definitely be back!!
Fantastic
We visited on 24th July while enjoying a spa break and had a fantastic meal. The food was delicious, and the service was outstanding. A special thank you to Jessica and Imogen, who were both so friendly, attentive, and welcoming. They really made our evening extra sp
Yolanda at the spa was an inspiration
Yolanda gave the best massage I've ever had. It won't be topped. Incredibly experienced and unbelievable advice. A truly world class masseuse.
A good spa weekend but not the best sleep
The staff were fantastic, very friendly, very attentive and helpful. We enjoyed the food, good sized portions and very tasty. Prices in the restaurant and bar very reasonable also. We really struggled with the bed though. The mattress offered no support and was too soft, and the pillows were the kind that just disappear into mush so there's nothing underneath your head to sleep on. We both found it very restless nights sleep, which was disappointing. We enjoyed the spa greatly, lovely treatments with friendly staff who put you at ease. The spa could do with a little refresh but all in all, it's a good sized pool, lovely hot tub and sauna/steam room. The policy of unlimited spa time with the room is fantastic! I would recommend this place for a spa weekend but I would urge the hotel to improve their bedding! At least offer a range of options for pillows in the room, for example.
Breakfast has spoiled what would have been a 5 star review
I really wanted to award the hotel 5 stars as the reception staff were amazing. I had made the mistake of booking the wrong weekend and didn't realise until I had turned up. After an initial panic the reception staff managed to switch my booking without any charge. We had booked a penthouse suite which was thankfully still available however it wasn't made up or cleaned. The house keeping had left for the day so the reception staff cleaned and made up the room themselves. I was hugely grateful for such an amazing service. The hotel and grounds are fantastic. The hotel is clean and well maintained. The penthouse suite itself was excellent and had some complimentary drinks and snacks which were regularly filled. The only reason the hotel was marked down was the terrible breakfast service. There appeared to be 2 staff dealing with over 100 guests and they were left to check in guests, make up and clean tables, refill food, coffee, milk etc. It was clearly too much and they were rushed off their feet. The food was not refilled regularly and we were often left waiting for items for 10-15 minutes at a time. Even worse was the fact the management had not ordered enough food so with over an hour to go in service many of the items had run out and not refilled. Out of 4 coffee machines only 1 was working and had only half of the options available. Easy items such as milk were left empty for long periods. The stress was taking its toll on staff and I saw 1 member being quite rude to a guest who was only questioning why items were not available. One other small gripe was the swimming times. Children have vey limited hours and at the weekend this was only until 4.30pm. As check in is not until after 3pm (and also due to my error) we were already too late meaning the kids could not swim on the first day. The weekday morning session also clashes with breakfast meaning you would need a very early breakfast to swim too. The pool and spa were very nice however. If breakfast can be sorted this would be a 5 star review.
Lovely relaxing break
We had such a lovely relaxing mini break here. We stayed in a deluxe room which was a good size, and very quiet. What a treat to have both a bath and separate shower in the bathroom. We enjoyed time in the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. There was plenty of choice for breakfast, but it was rather busy and there were some waits for more items to be brought out. We still had plenty to eat and enjoyed our breakfast. We would happily return.
Very enjoyable stay
The staff were very nice especially Susan in the dining room who was very friendly. No complaints but they should put a bench near the entrance, Kind regards Catherine killeen
